World Craft Week

World Craft Week 2018 is running from 16th to 22nd April and there are lots of ways you can get involved!

This year, World Craft Week is supporting Bliss, a charity for babies born premature or sick. Visit www.worldcraftweek.com to find out more and get a FREE digi magazine packed with loads of craft projects for you to try, as well as details of how you can help raise money for Bliss through crafting!

Whether you want to host a Craft4Bliss coffee morning, donate via JustGiving or simply have fun creating some new cards, join in with all the crafting fun throughout the week!

You can also download more special crafty projects and patterns for just £3 each – the money raised will be donated to Bliss, to help this important cause.

As our World Craft Week challenge, we're asking you all to get creative using just the scraps you have in your stash. To help, our designers have designed a few scrap-busting makes for inspiration, including this gorgeous floral card made by Sarah-Jane Rae.

Keep an eye on our website, and our Facebook page, for more scrap-busting inspiration.

How to make Sarah-Jane’s card

Create this bloomin’ marvellous card from scraps of paper in your craft stash this World Craft Week. Sarah-Jane Rae shows you how:

  1. Punch or die-cut circles from double-sided patterned paper. Layer 3 or 4 together, with the largest at the bottom and smallest on top. Secure together with a brad.
  2. Spritz with rubbing alcohol and scrunch up, as shown. Carefully unfold and leave to dry. Repeat to make three large flowers and two smaller ones.
  3. Stamp a sentiment onto card and colour the leaves.
  4. Add silver thread where the flowers will sit using sticky fixers. Attach the flowers around the sentiment, as shown.
  5. Layer onto a matching base card and add enamel dots, to finish.

How to donate to Bliss

  1. By text – you can donate by text. All you have to do is send MAKE14 followed by the amount you’d like to donate (e.g. MAKE14£10) to 70070.
  2. By Just Giving – create your own fundraiser page or make a donation. Visit bliss.org.uk/craft4bliss.
  3. Send a cheque – send a cheque made payable to the charity to Bliss, 2nd Floor, Chapter House, 18-20 Crucifix Lane, London SE1 3JW.
