Kanban dolls house kit and near disaster

Postby BusyBee » Thu Feb 02, 2012 10:54 pm

Today I decided to finish the card that had left me fed up with a Kanban kit I bought from Create and Craft before Christmas. I was taken up with Christmas card making when it arrived and wasn't sure If the 30 days return time had expired when I got around to using it. I was a bit disappointed in the kit but wanted to make a Christening card for a girl and it had one in it. (Not as nice as the boy's card I'd made with a decoupage sheet from Card Craft Plus last year.) I had almost finished the card when I found two of the embellishments had been wrongly printed: the purple shoes came with two sets for the right hand side of the card and none for the left. The same applied to the pots of flowers on the steps by the door. I emailed Kanban and got no reply! In a similar situation Cardcraft plus sent a replacement sheet by return of post. Which firm shall I be most inclined to patronise in future? I give you just one guess!! Anyway this morning I decided I was going to finish that card somehow. I removed the right hand pot and used it as a template to cut another one from white card, drew the pot and coloured it a bit with crayons, then covered both flowers with sweet pea flower soft (I hadn't got any mauve flower soft which would have been more appropriate) and I think it's worked. First time I have actually used flower soft too!
I tidied up the pile of papers and catalogues that get pushed in with the phone directories today and right at the bottom found the design sheets that came with Christmas flower soft colours - They got a bit bent in the post and I had put them under the heavy pile of directories and catalogues to flatten them - and then forgot about them. Now they have gone upstairs with the other Christmas card fixings to await this year's marathon sometime in October!!

This is the inside of the card wide open.
There were two bits with every card in this kit which look like the roof, one of which is scored: has anyone any idea what they are for? I haven't used them 'cos I haven't a clue what I could do with them!!

Hi

I had the same problem with this card, I also e mailed Kanban and got nothing back so I left a message on their facebook page (tried to find my comment but it was a while back so couldn't sorry) I didn't get much of a response (if any at all, can't quite remember) but at least other people reading it knows of the problem. This is the site if your interested https://www.facebook.com/kanbancrafts

Hope you hear back from them
Happy crafting xx

And folks on Forum do too now two of us have aired it. Did you figure out what the triangular roof shaped bits were for? They came with each card in the kit and I have now done the baby boy, baby girl and wedding cards - no problems with them apart from not having a clue what to do with the triangle bits. Also I noticed that some of the smaller elements (flowers in particular) do not always match the base colours. I have had really good quality stuff from Kanban until now so am not impressed with this set, and definitely not impressed with their customer service.

Lovely card but I may steer clear of Kanban kits in future, given that two of you have had traumas with them.
Congratulations on sticking with it though xx

I know I'm not perfect but I'm so close it scares me!

Hiya

Sorry BusyBee I didn't find what the triangles were for, think I had given up by that point! Their quality is usually very good, lets hope this is just a blip (fingers crossed).
Lilbuddha, there not all bad kits, just have a good look before you buy!

Take care xx

Have to agree there Maisie. I made the baby girl card and sold it on Wednesday in Market. I'm just ignoring the triangles.
