Postby suehowe » Mon Feb 06, 2012 9:26 am

Depends where you live, whether you work etc. I am retired so don't have a work place to take them to although quite a few folk on here started out just taking a few to show work colleagues and ended up selling that way. Others have their husband/partner/other relative take them to their work place. Some have tried local shops but that works best in smaller places. I am a regular producer for the Country Market (used to be the WI Market) and also at craft fares in the town and surrounding villages. I live in a small market town in Norfolk.
If you are going to take cards out to sell/show around it pays to invest in clear sleeves to protect them and also to keep the card and envelope together. Prices will also vary around the country. Here we sell A6 cards for £1.50, square and DL for £2 and A5 for £3. A friend makes A4 cards as well and she gets £4 for those.
Hope this helps.

Look in your local paper or online for upcoming events like school fairs - often they'll take on stalls. Be wary of expensive craft fairs as I've found selling cards that you have to then sell a lot to get your money back, smaller events that aren't exclusively craft are often cheaper. My favourite is a regular stall I do at Cancer Research fundraising events as it is very reasonable but then if I don't make my money back then at least it's gone to a good cause.
Also if you're on Facebook you could take some pictures and upload them with some description and price so friends and family can see what you've made. EBay is saturated with handamde cards and they don't seem to sell but check out Folksy.com instead if you like using the internet. All the best for it :)

I have been selling cards on and off for years, and have limited success. It is difficult to charge much for them, and I adopt the principal that I can at least get my money back and a bit more to buy more supplies :)

You can sell things like this on Etsy (www.etsy.com). It easy and cheap, and tends to be much better for craft items than Ebay etc.
