Storage of ribbons etc

Postby RDZphoto » Sun Feb 12, 2012 2:35 pm

How do you guys store your ribbons. mine are currently in a box and when i want one i have to empty it all to find something that matches. If i could organise them by colour then it would be even better, and easier. so i just wondered how you stored yours.

any other storage ideas you might have would also be appreciated

That seems a problem for all of us. I have a box for thin ribbons that lets me put spools on a rod and feed the ribbon through a series of holes in front. I've never seen anything like it in this country though. Most of my ribbons are in a draw, some in small clear plastic boxes (I think they had ice cream in originally!) and some on spools. It isn't totally mess free but at least I don't have to empty the whole drawer to find what I want. The boxes are in the drawer. I have a few I got at a discount store but they have solid colour tops - the icre cream boxes are semi clear so I can see what sorts of ribbon are in them. I've also tried winding ribbon round pieces of card and this helps keep them tidy but I prefer something round as flat things tend to leave fold creases in the ribbon.

i found a blog post of someone who stores them in jars. ill post a pic up of mine, i've only got 3 jars atm but they are now separated into colours. this lady put paper round they edge and labelled them as she didn't like to see the contents but i think it looks great seeing the different colours in a row
