Gltiz it!
21st May 2012

A little glitter can make all the difference to a design. Try adding detail with a fine-tipped glue pen, or for an eyecatching effect, sprinkle glitter onto wet Glossy Accents.

Tip of the Day

January 2012
Let the air in
30th January 2012

Make sure you’ve got a window open when using alcohol inks, alcohol markers or spray-on glue. Chemical highs are not conducive to good cardmaking.

Snip!
26th January 2012

Use fine scissors or deocupage snips for cutting our fiddly pieces of decoupage.

Perfect finish
25th January 2012

If your card looks a bit 'flat' try adding Glossy Accents to highlight areas.

Vintage or contemporary?
24th January 2012

Have a go with seam binding! Use as it is for a contemporary finish, or spritz with water, scrunch up and leave to dry overnight for a crinkled, vitnage effect.

Glitz it
23rd January 2012

Try to buy better quality glitter glues (such as Stickles). They have a finer nozzle and higher quality glitter for a professional effect.

Chocolate drop
22nd January 2012

Try using chocolate brown ink for stamping images as an alternative to black for a softer effect.

Subtle shine
21st January 2012

Try layering patterned paper onto mirror card for a subtle shine.

Punching problem
20th January 2012

Blunt punch? Try punching through kitchen foil a few times to sharpen it.

Embossing designs
18th January 2012

If your heat embossed cards end up looking messy, try using super-fine embossing powder. It's great for detailed images!

Round and round
17th January 2012

Don't have a corner rounder? Just draw round a 2p piece in the corner of your card with a pencil and trim. Rub out the pencil lines for a perfect finish.

Stop the sticks!
16th January 2012

If you cut through a lot of double-sided tape, velcro and other sticky material, you may find your scissors gum up. Invest in a pair of non-stick scissors to make your life easier!

Space saver
15th January 2012

If ou're very short on space, you can remove rubber stamps from their wooden block. Microwave the stamp for 10 seconds at a time (checking after each) to loosen the adhesive. Unpeel the stamp and store in a CD case. You can attach it to an acrylic block with a glue stick.

Pleat perfect
14th January 2012

Try pleating ribbon and applying it to your card. Stick down firmly with double-sided tape.

Stamp crisply
13th January 2012

Before you use a stamp for the first time, rub over it gently with an eraser, or apply sticky tape and remove. This will get rid of any dust and grease for a better impression.

Sand it
12th January 2012

Emboss Core'dinations paper and then sand over the textured surface for an interesting effect!

Paper flowers
11th January 2012

Make simple paper flowers by tearing a circle of patterned paper. Rip into a spiral shape and coil round your little finger. Secure with Glossy Accents.

Unravelling ribbon
6th January 2012

Cut ribbon diagonally to prevent fraying. For ribbon such as organza, which is particularly prone to unravelling, add a touch of clear nail varnish on the ends and allow to dry before using.
